Benefits of Having Son who is a Marine Working for My Roofing Company

As a roofing contractor and a military parent, I couldn’t be more proud of my son for joining the U.S. Marine Corps during his senior year of high school. While it was tough to see him go, his decision to become a marine has actually helped my business. As an empty nester, I found myself with extra time and energy to focus on growing my company.

 – Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

As he went through the rigorous training
I noticed how the Marine Corps way of structure and discipline translated well into my roofing business. The pain and hard work he endured during boot camp reminded me of the struggles we faced in our company. During his training, my wife and I received daily letters from him, which brought us closer together as a family. During his months at boot camp, I found myself with even more time to focus on my roofing business. But what surprised me most was the amazing relationship that developed between my son and I and his fellow Marines.

Psalms 91:1-16 – He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

 – The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
The principles instilled in the 186,000 personnel of one of the smallest operating budget U.S. military branches made all the difference. The declaration of war and presidential order that led him to join showed me the importance of leadership and sacrifice. His training brought us closer as a family, and it also gave me a newfound appreciation for hard work and dedication. As a veteran myself, I understand the importance of discipline and structure that the Marines instill in their recruits. This organization has good principles that I have been able to apply in my own work ethic and management style.

 – And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

The Marines have a detailed manual and description for every process, including roof installation
My son’s training included mastering each item and putting them in place with maximum quantity. I realized that implementing this level of precision could help improve my business process and standards. The basics of Marine training are key to turning a person into a disciplined and focused individual. The 12 full weeks of training were filled with life and death situations that tested his mental and physical limits. However, the Marines also instilled a sense of camaraderie amongst the recruits that was unlike anything else.

As a recruit, he learned basic information about leadership, teamwork and discipline which were important items that he brought back to our company. With his new title as a Marine, he went through intense boot camp training which gave him the skills and confidence to lead our team on missions. He helped us update our employee manual and introduced basic safety practices that insurance companies now require us to have. He also explained the importance of workers compensation insurance and how it protects our employees.

He emphasized the importance of quality violation-free work and school for the team, as well as introducing infantry tactics into our project management. But as he underwent their rigorous and detailed training, I began to see how his field knowledge and discipline could be valuable assets to our team. After he completed his service, I offered him a job as a new hire and was impressed by how quickly he adapted to the roofing specialty.

 – Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

My son has become one of our most valuable employees
Customers often ask how his military experience has helped him in his job, and the answer is simple – the steps he took to achieve a higher rank and promotion through a point system based on tenure and goals are applicable in any business. The main way it helped was through his experience with the distinct point system used by the Marines to measure advancement. He consistently received excellent performance reviews and set goals for himself, which translated well into our business culture of continuous improvement. He even had the opportunity to attend a marine executive forum, where he learned valuable leadership skills that he brought back to our team.

As he progressed through his training and was eventually assigned to Marine One
That is the helicopter that transports the President, I was able to learn more about the inner workings of the Marine Corps. He provided an insightful look into Marine Corps history, scenes from his inside tour of Marine Corps House, and even participated in a Q&A with the Commandant himself. His attendance at VIP parades and security briefings gave him an understanding of world situations and heightened situation security. The Marine Corps is known for producing great leaders and future leaders, and my son is no exception. His time at the Pentagon allowed him to learn valuable lessons on leadership, which he has brought back to our company. He understands the keys to success and has implemented them in our day-to-day operations. As a lieutenant general in the Marine Corps, he learned about safety and taking calculated shots at opportunities.

 – But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.

His job as a front line soldier gave him a greater chance to learn discipline and teamwork, which he applied in his field work. As an article on military.com stated, Marines are taught to be diligent and meticulous in their tasks, ensuring successful installations every time. These traits were reflected in his work ethic and attitude towards customers.
